Austin gets a lot of bachelor parties. Most of them run the same weekend: bar crawl on Rainey, brunch nobody remembers, and a group text full of receipts. If you want the groom to actually remember it, you need two things on the calendar that are hard to do anywhere else. A day on the water, and a day on the range.
Here is how we tell groups to build the weekend, including the one scheduling mistake that ruins it.
The lake day
Lake Austin and Lake Travis are the reason people fly in. A private boat with your own group beats any bar in the city, and it is the one part of the weekend where nobody has to plan anything once you are on the water.
The move is finding the raft up. Boats tie together in the coves, and that is where the day actually happens.
We send our groups to Big Tex Boat Rentals. They run captained boats, they know where the raft ups happen, and they handle groups our size without turning it into a logistics problem. Check their availability here.
Book the boat early. Summer weekends go 3 to 4 weeks out, same as we do.
The range day
This is the part guys talk about on the flight home. Our private outdoor facility outside Austin runs tactical rifle, full auto machine guns, and helicopter aerial gunnery, led by ex-special-forces instructors. One private group per time slot, so it is your crew and your instructors, nobody else on the line.
Nobody is handed a rifle and left alone with it. You get run through safety and fundamentals first, then you shoot, and an instructor is on you the whole time.

Do the range first. This is not optional.
Here is the mistake groups make. They book the boat Saturday, the range Sunday morning, and half the group shows up rough.
We do not let anyone shoot who has been drinking. If our instructors think you are under the influence, you do not participate and you do not get your money back. That is not us being difficult. It is live ammunition and there is no version of that rule we bend.
So run it in this order:
- Saturday morning: range. Everyone sharp, everyone shoots, nobody sits out.
- Saturday afternoon: boat. You have already done the hard part of the weekend.
- Sunday: whatever is left of you.
Groups that run it this way get the full weekend. Groups that flip it lose people on day two.
Logistics worth knowing
- Our range is outside Austin, so plan transportation. Large groups book a single ride through Fetii. Rental cars work. Uber and Lyft reach us, and the property is gated so your driver needs the code we send you.
- Closed-toe shoes on the range. No sandals, and this one is enforced. Hat and sunglasses are a good idea, the whole thing is outdoors.
- Every attendee signs a waiver before arriving. We send the link when you book, so get it into the group chat early rather than sorting it in the parking lot.
- Book both the same week you pick your dates. The boat and the range are the two things that sell out.
