What you get for it is a classroom seat and a number in line at a shared range, usually with one instructor watching a dozen people at once. That is enough to satisfy the state, and it is the reason so many people walk away with a license and no real confidence in their hands. Our $500 is not the price of a permit. It is two hours of private instruction, and the qualification happens inside it. You are the only shooter on the line. The first hour is spent fixing whatever is actually wrong with your grip, trigger press, and sight alignment. One of our DPS-certified instructors works your fundamentals first, then proctors the qualification: 50 rounds at 3, 7, and 15 yards, 70% to pass. Most people fail at the 15-yard line. It is a drive, and it is the whole point. A private outdoor facility is why you get the line to yourself, why nobody is rushing you off it, and why we can run the fundamentals as long as you need before you shoot for score. You get the address and the gate code when we text you to schedule. ## Common questions ### Do I need my own pistol? No. Bring yours if you have one. If not, we provide one. Gear is billed separately. ### What happens if I fail the shooting test? You retest free. It is uncommon here, because you spend the first hour fixing the exact things that make people fail. If it does happen, you are not sent away with a shrug and you are not paying for the session twice. We tell you honestly what went wrong, then you come back and shoot it again at no additional charge. Gear is billed separately on a retest, same as the first session. ### How long until I actually have the license? Once you pass the proficiency test, the paperwork goes to DPS. Processing typically runs 60 to 90 days, and you will be fingerprinted as part of the application. If you want it in hand by a certain date, start the classroom course now rather than later. ### Do I have to do the classroom before the range session? Yes. The LTC-101 certificate from the classroom course is required before the qualification counts. Buy them in either order, but complete the course first. ### Texas is permitless carry. Why bother with an LTC? Three reasons people give us. It is recognized in roughly 38 other states, so it travels with you. It covers school-zone exemptions that permitless carry does not.
